Privacy Policy
LightSession for ChatGPT ("LightSession") is a Chrome extension that lets you read and search the ChatGPT conversation you have open. This policy explains what data it handles and what it does with it.
The short version
LightSession reads the conversation you open on chatgpt.com and keeps a copy on your device so you can read and search it. Nothing is sent to the developer or to anyone else. There are no accounts, no analytics and no ads.
What LightSession handles
Your conversations. When you open a conversation on chatgpt.com or chat.openai.com, LightSession requests that conversation from ChatGPT, the same way the ChatGPT page does, and builds a search index from it. This includes the text of your prompts and ChatGPT's replies, message dates, and the conversation's id and title.
ChatGPT's session headers. To request a conversation, LightSession reuses the headers of the ChatGPT page's own requests, including its sign-in token. It keeps them in memory in the ChatGPT tab and sends them only to chatgpt.com or chat.openai.com. They are never stored or sent anywhere else.
Settings. Your LightSession settings, such as whether it is turned on and whether the page buttons show, are saved with Chrome's extension storage. If you use Chrome sync, Chrome syncs these settings between your browsers. They contain no conversation content.
Where the data is kept
Conversation indexes are stored in the extension's local storage on your device. They never leave your device, except in a Markdown file that you choose to export and save yourself.
Temporary chats are never stored.
What LightSession does not do
- It does not send your conversations or any other data to the developer or to any third party.
- It does not sell or transfer user data.
- It does not use your data for advertising, analytics, profiling or creditworthiness.
- It does not load or run remote code.
How to delete your data
- To delete the stored conversation indexes, open the LightSession popup and choose Clear under Storage.
- Uninstalling LightSession deletes everything it stored on your device.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new date.
